Tutorial - Link's Shield
Instruction:
| Step 1: Search all your material together. Cut the board into the right size, it should be the size you want for your shield later. Make a pattern with the basic form of the shield (2D) with the foil. Copy the pattern to your board. |
| Step 2: Cut out the form of the shield you copied to the board. I used a jigsaw for that but I guess a normal wood saw should do it too. |
| Step 3: Cut the rubber foam into the shield shape. The thickness depends on how thick you want your shield to be. |
| Step 4: Give the rubber foam shape a more 3D look. Glue the rubber foam onto the board (I used hot glue for that). |
| Step 5: Now comes the fabric part. Stretch the blue fabric around the rubber foam and attach the fabric with the tacker on the back of the board. The metallic look around the edges is done with silver metallic textil paint. I finally added the yellow and red pattern I cutted out of craft foam before with hot glue. At the back of the shield I attached a holder so my "Link" can handle the shield easily. ^^ There is also a backstrap for the arm out of leather. And remember to attach the holder and backstrap right so you can carry the shield in your right hand! Link uses his sword in the left hand so the shield needs to be right! |
